He became a college professor but resigned from Howard University before formally joining the Communist Party in 1943. He remained a Party loyalist until resigning in 1957. Wilkerson got a teaching job at Yeshive University in 1962 and remained there for about eleven years before leaving to work for an educational consulting firm for another decade or so. Very Good.
