1901. Broadside. Partly printed. Split into two parts, each approximately 12 x 17 cm. Edgeworn. A couple of folds. Later non-cellophane tape on back. Minor soil. Permits A. V. Williams Jackson, Esq. [and] F. J. Apati [or Apata], Esq. to visit the Khyber Pass on 22.3.01 proceeding as far as Ali Masjid and returning the same day. It is signed: G. Roos Keppel Captain, Political Officer Khyber, Peshawar. The three names, the date, and the word "have" are holograph; the rest is printed. Jackson was Professor of Indo-Iranian languages at Columbia University and the editor of a 9 volume History of India. Ali Masjid is a former British fort in the center of the Khyber Pass. Also included is a photograph of Kate Brigham of Savannah, Georgia who became Mr. Jackson's second wife in 1911. Fair. Item #55709
