Second, and rather uncommon, book by this regional (Ohio and nearby) African American poet who produced at least 10 books of poetry, much of it in dialect. One poem ("Soft Falls the Night") also appeared in his first book ("Plantation Echoes") with a third stanza which does not appear in this later book -- the poem shows up again in his fourth book ("Humble Folks") in the longer version, suggesting that omission of the stanza was unintentional.
