Presbyterian Missionaries in India/Pakistan

n.p. n.d. [ca. 1942]. Hardcover. 35 good-sized photos, generally ranging from 28 x 21cm. down to 14 x 9cm. Photos date between 1908 and 1942. Most are photos of the missionaries assembled at annual meetings. Most were taken by N (or Nanak) Chand whose name appears along the bottom along with a brief caption (e.g., Annual Meeting No. 1) and date. Photos mounted (inserted in corner mounts) one to a page. Several pages brittle and detached. Photos are of good quality, generally with very good detail. Persons in photo identified on back of photo of 1923 Annual Meeting. Folded sheet of paper laid in on which someone has identified many of the persons in a photo identified as "Synod Ganjab 1933." We didn't note any other photos in which the subjects were identified (although the back of a nursing photo contains some penciled names). Flexible black album (31 x 26cm.). These photos generally appear to relate to the Sialkot Mission located mainly in the Punjab in what is now Pakistan. Almost all of the photos are of white missionaries. The photo identified as Synod Ganjab 1933 includes quite a few South Asians as does another photo, tentatively identified as 1936, of what appears to be a class of nursing students and their teachers. One photo is of a missionary wedding; three other non-annual meeting photos are identified with inked captions as "Moody Institute in India 1921 or Thereabouts," "Muskingum in India," and "The Cleland-Collins relatives in India in 1923." Good. Item #79529
