Former owner's name stamp ("W. Winfree Hughes" of Baltimore) on both endpapers. No Jacket. In this Third (and final) edition, Griggs added an essay on "The Leopard Spots," an infamously racist novel by Thomas Dixon. In the earlier editions, Dixon's book is discussed in less detail by two characters in the novel. This third edition greatly outsold the two earlier editions and almost all copies which turn up are Third editions. Fair. Item #82551
