One twelve page signature (pages 83-94) pulled loose at almost all of the stitching. Almost all of this books is devoted the period of time that this newlywed American woman spent with her missionary husband in Japan where he organized the first Baptist church in Tokyo. Thier time in Japan during his service in Japan (autumn of 1873 until May, 1877 when her hsiband's sickness forced their return to California and his death six months later. Slip laid in with former owner's informed speculation about the identity of the "Jennie" and "Fannie" in the gift inscription. Good. Item #83047
