Lacks all preliminary leaves prior to William Lloyd Garrison's Preface which means that this copy lacks: (1) the frontis (portrait of Sojourner Truth); (2) the title-leaf (other than a preserved tiny remnant); and (3) the two-page Introduction by Harriet Beecher Stowe (which had been added to this edition and came after the title-leaf). Ex lib. (Western Reserve Historical Society -- their stamp is embossed on the title-leaf remnant and at least one text leaf. Minor foxing. Heavy chipping along inner and outer margins of final text leaf which has now been neatly reinforced. Edition of this rather scarce Narrative identified by comparing our text to text of the 1850 and 1853 editions. Good. Item #87483
