Four-pages on a single folded sheet. Dated July 6, 1866 in Philadelphia. Clean and Legible. Partial split along fold. Envelope not present. Written to the unnamed wife of a man the writer identifies only as "Mr. H" who was then serving as a missionary in Monrovia, Morris writes to reassure the wife that failure to hear from her husband is probably due to the poor mail service from Monrovia which had to reach them via Freetown. Morris then writes about his pleasure in being involved (or leading) efforts (missionary?) in Liberia. In the last portion of the letter, Morris laments that a Mr. Scholes has not sent Morris the $100 that Mr. H had promised which was part of the $300 which Morris needed to finish a "Monument" (not further described). Very Good. Item #87526
