Typed Postcard from Langston Hughes to Margaret Bonds. Dated March 6, 1962

1962. 14 x 9cm. Orange Hughes imprint qt one end on message side. Signed "Langston" in green ink. Bonds, an African American musician and composer, collaborated with Hughes on several projects. Hughes tells Bonds that he had seen Gladys Graham (columnist for the Associated Negro Press) in Philadelphia and that she told him that the Ballad (probably the Bonds/Hughes "The Ballad of the Brown King") had gotten a great reception there. Hughes goes on to say that he is returning to Philadelphia for the March 9th funeral of Lincoln classmate Frank Mitchell's mother who had just died ('slept away") while Hughes was visiting. From there, Hughes was going to Washington to see Owen Dodson's production of Dr. Faustus. Near Fine. Item #88134
