[Invitation to] Anti-Slavery Conference
n.p. January, 1867. Four-page leaflet (2nd and 4th pages blank). Later folds, probably for mailing. Minor splitting at end of one fold. Accompanied by a modest-sized (14 x 22 cm.) 2-page holograph letter dated 17th January 1867 and written by L. A. Chamerovzow, Secretary of the Sub-Committee of the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society, one of the Societies proposing that the 1867 Conference be organized and held. The invitation is short on details. The unnamed recipient of the letter is: (1) requested to advise as to whether they planned to attend the Conference; (2) advised that Mr. Cook (presumably Thomas Cook of the well-known firm for travelers) can be contacted to secure help with accommodations; and (3) told that delegates might be sought from those already planning to attend the Great Paris Exhibition in 1867. Very Good. Item #88500
