Bottom edge of backstrip visibly reglued. Cover staining along fore-edge. Endpapers split along hinges. Mostly light foxing and some wear throughout. No jacket. Signed twice (on half-title and title-page) by Dr. M. H. Cotton who is presumably Dr. M[ary] H. Cotton. one of the seven founders of the Pekinese Club of America and who offered "Peking Kien Lung" at stud ($20 fee) at her Peking Kennels in Mineola (on Long Island) in the February 1915 issue of Vanity Fair. Dr. Cotton was also the owner of "Ching-Ur," bred by the Empress Dowager and given to Clara Kilbourne who gave the dog to Dr. Cotton. "Ching-Ur,," the first Pekinese female to win a Champion of Record title (in 1908), died without producing any offspring. Good. Item #88906
