Wedge-shaped piece torn from one leaf (15/16) with loss a a few words of text. Strips of stiff paper used to reinforce inner hinges. Brougham, later Lord Brougham, strongly supported the abolition of slavery. 1826 was also the year that Brougham appears to have made a cash payment to avoid being named a client or lover in "The Memoirs of Harriette Wilson."
