The Kourier Magazine, Vol. 3, No. 8 (July, 1927).
Atlanta: KKK, 1927. Paperback. (KKK) 66p. Softcover in original wrapper. 26cm. Minor chipping and wear on right edge of front cover; otherwise as new. Special Catholic Number. This issue seems to be entirely focused on the Klan's anti-Catholic views. Pages 48-54 contain a lengthy essay/letter from Al Smith, the Catholic Governor of New York and soon to become the Democratic nominee for President of the United States. Smith sought to refute the argument that there was an inherent conflict between religious loyalty to the Catholic faith and patriotic loyalty to the United States. The religious issue dogged Smith throughout the 1928 campaign and he lost in a landslide to Herbert Hoover. Near Fine. Item #89458
