Rome, GA: Fletcher Smith, Printer, [1892]. Broadsheet. 21 x 20 cm. Printed on both sides on thin pink paper. Minor chipping and wear along page edges. One side is devoted to claims under the newly enacted Indian War Soldiers' Pension Bill under which qualified soldiers or their widows could receive a monthly pension of $8 per month. The other side also seeks claimants from the Mexican War and "colored" soldiers, presumably from the Civil War, since the flyer advises, part: "Remember all colored regiments were known as U. S. Colored Infantry, U. S. Colored Cavalry, U. S. Colored Artillery, and all commands numbered, for instance: First Regiment United States Colored Infantry, Company A, and so on to 138th U. S. Infantry. ... Any colored soldier writing to me the names of his colonel and captain and where he enlisted, I can find his regiment and company ... Colored soldiers should give me the name they answered to at the morning roll call." Very Good. Item #89604
