Seven Years in the Soudan: Being a Record of Explorations, and Campaigns against the Arab Slave Hunters

London: Sampson Low, 1892. 1st ed. in English. Hardcover. frontis, illustrations, maps (1 folding), index, xxi, 467p. Original red cloth. 23cm. The cover was apparently detached and subsequently reglued in such a manner as to cause the contents to now sit lower in the binding than when originally bound. A crease and a few small splits or other flaws in somewhat faded backstrip were probably caused by the regluing. Scattered foxing. Text partially unopened. Translated from the Italian by Lily Wolffsohn and Bettina Woodward. We have also had copies of this scarce book bound in blue cloth with an illustration on the front cover -- we don't know whether priority has been established. The actual location of several illustrations is at variance with 0the page numbers in the List of Illustrations. Very Good. Item #89644
