A Historical Analysis of the 364th Infantry in World War II

[Washington, D.C.?]: U.S. Dept. of the Army, 1999. Paperback. illustrations, maps (some folded and color), various pagings (totalling around 200 pages), Softcover in original wrapper. 28cm. Minor cover soil and other wear. The 364th was a segregated African American unit. This U. S. Army undertook this study because of a self-published 1998 novel ("The Slaughter") by Carroll Case whose central theme was that more than a thousand men of the 364th were put to death by the U. S. Army at Camp Van Dorn in Mississippi in 1943. This report, concluding that Case's fictional account was not based on fact, seems to have settled the issue for most people. Very Good. Item #90437
