Original light blue cloth with a uniform raised pattern. 24 cm. Backstrip concave at top with splitting at head of both joints and other wear. Endpapers heavily foxed; mostly light to moderate foxing everywhere else. Frontis chipped along outer edge and misfolded. Light foxing throughout text. The Battle of Quallah Battoo seems to have been the climax of the First Sunatran Expedition which involved the U.S. sending a frigate ("Potomac") to attack the village of Kuala Battee, after three members of the crew of the Friendship, an American Merchantman in Sumatra to trade for pepper, had been killed and their cargo taken.Pages 399-423 detail the visit of the Frigate Potomac to the Sandwich Islands.
