Chipping and wear at top and bottom of all leaves -- loss of two words ("Piper of") in poem's title at beginning of poem on second page. Later horizontal fold. Cotter, an African American, was a high school principal (Paul Laurence Dunbar School) and writer in Louisville, Kentucky. OCLC locates four copies of this fragile separately-published poem -- NYPL, Texas Southern, Univ. of Texas at Austin and Broward County Library System. Statement on front page: "Single copies 5 cents. In Lots of Ten or more 4 cents." OCLC locates only four copies. This poem, or a revised version, was presumably included 33 years later in Cotter's "Sequel to the 'Pied Piper of Hamelin' and Other Poems," published in 1939. Good. Item #90828
