Bonds, an African American, was a talented pianist and composer who sometimes collaborated with Langston Hughes.Opera Philadelphia performed Credo, a cantata setting by Bonds of a text by W E B Du Bois that was premiered in 1972 by Zubin Mehta and the Los Angeles Philharmonic in 1972.
