New York: 1899 and 1900. Later folds for mailing. Both fundraising pieces are rather heavily stained along right side of center section. The earlier fundraising letter (33 cm.) reports on an Indian girl called Pearl who had sent a letter telling Burgess that she had gotten engaged and was going to join the Catholic Church. The letter concludes happily with the girl changing her mind and deciding that it was more important to keep her faith than her betrothed. The later fundraising letter (28 cm.) reports on the death of an Indian boy named Star and of the unmet need for a hospital to provide medical care. Fair. Item #91240
