Soldados del 10 Reg de Cab. Norte Americano Hechos Pricioneros en el Combate del Carrizal por Tropas Const. de Mexico el 21 de Junio. de 1916

1916. Real photo postcard. 9 x 14 cm. Unused. Gluemarks and paper remant along two outer edges where this was probably glued in an album or scrapbook. Black and white photo of 12 African American men. General Pershing sent two companies of the 10th Cavalry Regiment to attack Mexican Federal Army troops at Carrizal on June 21st. Of the 92 troopers sent from the 10th Cavalry Regiment, 12 were killed and 23 were captured. Neither President Wilson nor the Mexican government wanted a wider war. The two sides stood down and the prisoners were returned to the U. S. after a short captivity. This appears to be a photo of twelve of the captured 10th Regiment troopers. Very Good. Item #91582
