Holograph in a clear hand. Single partial sheet (approximately 20 x 17 cm.). Numerous sums, mostly in ink on reverse which appear to be unrelated to Dick's sale. Later folds (one vertical and two horizontal). Some uneven browning or spotting. No location given. Relation between buyer and seller not specified. Thomas agrees to pay $85 by giving Alex. his note for $85. Terms for payment of the note are not spelled out in this brief bill of sale other than to say that the $85 ..."when paid will be in full for the payment of a Negro Man sold to him this day the said negro man named Dick first manumitted (by me to be free on the fifth day of March in the year of our Lord Eighteen hundred and eleven.
