Item #92978 NIP Magazine, Vol. 18, No.6. (June, 1973).

NIP Magazine, Vol. 18, No.6. (June, 1973).

Cincinnati: Fred T. Suggs, Sr. 1973. Paperback. photos, illustrations, 40p. Softcover in original wrapper. 29 cm. Moderate cover wear and scuffing. Dampstain in the upper inner corner of all pages. Online information has Suggs, an African American, born in Florence, Alabama, studying for a while at the University of Cincinnati, establishing a photography studio in Cincinnati in 1952, editing and publishing NIP Magazine (sometimes just identified as NIP (News in Pictures or just NIP) from 1955 to 1990 before it was sold to others. He started publishing another magazine (Tri-State Talk Magazine) in 1996 as a sort of Jet magazine aimed at the local Tri-State area (portions of Ohio, Kentucky and Indiana). Suggs died in 2002. NIP was about African Americans and was focused on African Americans living in and around Cincinnati although it seems to have regarded itself as covering the same Tri-State area. Title of two of the articles in this issue, "18th Annual Debutante Cotillion" and "Spurious Patriotism," by Nathan Wright. Good. Item #92978
