Important abolitionist newspaper published from June 11, 1840, to April 16, 1870,by the American Anti-Slavery Society. Much of the material in this issue was reprinted from other publications. Page three has: (1) slightly more than a full column for a report from "Our Boston Correspondent" on the 54th Massachusetts Regiment which had been honored upon its return to Boston the previous Saturday; and slightly less than a full column for a letter from Sallie Hollie, an Oberlin graduate who become an agent for the Anti-Slavery Society after her graduation in 1851. Hollie reported on Oberlin activities at the end of August during commencement anniversary activities, including a Episcopal Church Service at which Alexander Crummell was the reader and a Festival in the newly completed Ladies Hall at which William Still, John Mercer Langston and Crummell spoke.
