Title page of Volume 1 has large lightly browned area, probable from a laid in item which is no longer present. Modest cover soiling. Spine slightly sloped on Vol. 2. Small library stamp ("U of L") on copyright page overstamped with withdrawn stamp in first volume -- we found no other liobrary markings. An impressive compilation of material about Egypt and the Sudan, almost all of which seems to be in Western languages rather than Arabic. "Its Compilation has been one of my chief consolations during five years of enforced exile, passed chiefly on the hospitable shores of England, and tempered by the kindness of English friends."
