25 Photographs from a 1973 Testimonial Dinner Honoring Dr. Cobb held at Sheraton Park Hotel, presumably the one in Washington, DC.
Paperback. Individuals not identified in the photos or on the backs. Generally 20 x 25 cm. although a couple have been trimmed. "Cabell," perhaps the name of a photographer, embossed in lower right corner on three of the photos. Dr. Cobb is in eight of the photos. His wife appears in a few others. There are no photos of the crowd at the event. There are also five duplicate images. Cobb had been removed in 1969 from the Chairmanship of the Anatomy Department at Howard after a student boycott. The Medical School's Grievance Committee had recommended that Cobb be reinstated as Chairman. Howard University never did that but they did name Cobb Distinguished Professor of Anatomy.These photos were probably taken at the 500 (or so) person Testimonial Dinner organized by Epps and Leffall, two distinguished surgeons, to demonstrate continuing strong support for Cobb.
