Behind the Seams: by a [N word] Woman Who Took in Work from Mrs. LIncoln and Mrs. Davis

n.p. "A Lincoln Fann" 1945. Paperback. 24p. Softcover in original wrapper. 22 cm. Minor cover browning. Prefatory Note to this reprint signed in type by "A Lincoln Fann." Copy No. 69 of an edition limited to 200 numbered copies. "Behind the Seams: the 'Colored Historian' of the White House and Her Parodists," by Anna Nelson (pages 542-558 in the May 2018 issue of PMLA) indentifies the anonymous reprinter as Charles P. Everitt, the bookdealer remembered in the antiquarian book trade for his "Adventures of a Treasure Hunter." Nelson also identifies and writes about Daniel Ottolengui, the anonymous author of this racist parody of "Behind the Scenes," by Elizabeth Keckley [she actually spelled her last name as Keckly and that is the spelling often used for her today]. Near Fine. Item #95009
