Former owner's name ("Roger Whittlesey 1794") on front free endpaper. Preface dated 1793. Whittlesey, the former owner, seems likely to have been the Whittlesey who was a graduate of Yale University and spent his adult life as a lawyer in Southbury, Ct. Good. Item #95255
